Echo PM – Best Coffee Shop & Cafe in Shenzhen, Shuiwei (水围)

I’m back in Futian and Shuiwei (水围) again for one of my favourite coffee shops in Futian. Yes I know I always say that but you have to believe because it is. Echo PM is not a place I go to enough. That is no fault of its own, it just there are so many great choices right now and like a kid in a candy shop I want to go to them all. Which is a bit of a problem because the whole scene is booming right now in Shenzhen.
Location
Echo P.M. is about a 10-minute walk from Fumin Station, Futian district and is conveniently close to the Hong Kong border. Back in the old days there were more people going from here to Hong Kong but in recent years that tide seems to have turned. Echo PM attracts a lot of locals and Hong Kong people who are out from Hong Kong for a day. The place is along the main road and easy to spot, Vicha Bar, which is another local land mark is basically next door.
Ambience
For aesthetics and style alone, I would say Echo PM is one of the most attractive coffee shops in Shenzhen. Large windows surround the shop, even up to the second floor, which lends the place a light airness which I find very refreshing in Shenzhen.
The seating roadside has wonderful umbrellas, large tables and is surrounded by plants. The seating along its sides is tucked away under the second floor, which means it’s sheltered from the elements and along a quiet pedistrian street. Which makes it perfect for chilling outside with your coffee.
The interior of the shop as I mentioned is comfitable and cool. There three nice large tables to work on, along with a clean and comfortable washroom, which isn’t common in that area.
Drinks
The coffee beans here are solid. They’ve got all the usual suspects, lattes, cappuccinos, and few more I haven’t ever thought of. So far I have found the flavours, better than most places, especially the more commercial variety.
They have a beer fridge with a decent beer selection, Heineken, Paulaner, and other chilled options at very reasonable prices. I always like this option in a cafe in case you want to switch things up with a cold one.
Food
They’ve got cakes at the front counter not the cheapest, but very tasty. I believe they cooperate with someone else for the cakes, they are very tasty though. They have food options too, potato wedges, chicken, and other light snacks. Not quite restaurant-level, but solid for a café.
Price
Coffee and other drinks, beer are well-priced. Food generally is within the normal range, and tasty. The cakes are very good so I personally don’t mind paying more that. The pricing overall hits a nice balance between quality and affordability.
Service
The store manager Luna is very nice and extremely welcoming. Along with the other memebers of her team I find the service, polite, efficient and friendly. The coffee shop is kept extremely clean and for me its this combination that makes the places shine
Final Thoughts
What really makes Echo PM shine is its ambience and layout. Yes the staff are wonderful, and that’s not to mention the delicous coffee. the coffee and drink prices are very decent. What is the winner for is the location, clean facilities and the fact it is not over crowded or over commercial. It really is an awesome place to hang out, relax, chill, smoke, to work on a computer and drink coffee. Based on the atmosphere, service, location, good coffee and price I would highly recommend Echo PM, its one of the best coffee shops in Shenzhen in Futian.
