ThirstyGuide Reader Walked Into A Music Bar in Shenzhen
Working on a blog or any long project can seem like a waste of time. Well I’m here to tell you its not. I have always had the philosophy, if one person reads to a post and it touches them in a positive way then all the work of building this site and posting on it is has all been worth while. This is exactly what happened. It happened.
You’re not just number
It’s easy to look at google console (place where google gives statistics for your webpage). Here you have such interesting data as unique vistors, impressions and number of clicks and much more. It’s pretty dull, but It’s important to know how your website is getting along. Every number is a potential reader. However amongst the date its easy to forget they are real people. So I have a quick story to tell.
What happened
Last night (at the time of writing). I went with a friend to a bar. Yes I actually go to the places I write about, I spend money there, eat and drink. That’s probably why I am always skint.
Back to my story…..
It was a chilly evening in Shenzhen, China especially for this time of year. I walked into one of my favourite live music bars in Longhua, Shenzhen. The place is called Rong Li (check my review). I was with my tall Serbian friend who’s always up for a beer. However by the time we got there it was late, the live music had finished and Rocky the boss was having a quiet drink with a few local regulars.
We walked in and he jumped up, with more enthusiasm than normal and started telling me in a mix of English and Chinese, that one of my subscribers had been there last night. Well I don’t have that kind of social media account at the moment so I guessed he meant a reader from this blog.
We talked about this guy for a bit. My reader who had turned up was from Turkey, he’d read my review and thought to try the place out. To top it all off, he was also a musician and plays the guitar, sax and drums. Apparently, better than just visiting he also played some of his own tunes! I am pretty sure you know who you are if you’re this post. Anyway everyone had a great night, pictures were shared and apparently he is Rocky’s new best friend. The mysterious Turkish friend had a blast as well as the boss and the friends of the bar.
This is why I do this
The whole point of the post is to say thank you. I’m extremely happy that at least one person who has read a review has followed up and had a great experience. This is the whole reason I make these posts. I personally think it’s not as easy to get information about places to visit, drink and eat, and it’s true of nightlife in general. That’s unless you jump onto Little Red Book (Red Note). I typically, stay away from larger chain locations and visit smaller bars, restaurants or coffee shops. Thats unless I have had an exceptional experience.
To finish off
I’m so happy you guys had a great night and more importantly. This is a win-win-win situation. Rocky has new friend and customer, my mysterious reader has a great place to hang out, and it has kept me motivated to keep on with this blog thing.
So thank you! Mysterious Turkish guy, Hopefully I will bump into you at Rong Li soon.
If your are looking for something similar check out my reviews on Echo PM, Borra and Chera, or Cafe Society, and Baker’s Base, all in Futian. If your looking something different check out the review for Rongli (rockys bar) and then there is also another great spot in Lotiko in Nanshan. Although DABhaus has good cocktails, if your specifically looking for this try Cement, Ben’s bar or RMK.
